On Tour: Elisabeth Leonskaja at the Tirol Hall, Innsbruck
We are delighted to be joined by internationally celebrated pianist Elisabeth Leonskaja and conductor Marzena Diakun for a programme exploring the drama, elegance and extraordinary musical invention of Haydn, Mozart and Schubert.
The concert opens with Haydn’s Symphony No. 44 in E minor, known as the Funeral Symphony. Dramatic and deeply expressive, the work reveals Haydn at his most compelling, contrasting moments of intensity with music of remarkable beauty and refinement.
Elisabeth Leonskaja then joins us for Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 9 in E-flat major, K.271, the Jeunehomme Concerto. Written when Mozart was just 21, this remarkable work marked an important step forward in his writing for piano and orchestra, combining virtuosity and elegance with an unusually rich dialogue between soloist and ensemble.
The programme concludes with Schubert’s Symphony No. 5 in B-flat major. Composed while Schubert was still a teenager, its graceful melodies, warmth and lightness reveal the influence of Mozart while offering an unmistakable glimpse of Schubert’s own distinctive musical voice.
