The English Chamber Orchestra is a Charitable Incorporated Organisation bringing together our artistic, educational and charitable work within one organisation.
Our purpose is to share exceptional music with audiences in the UK and internationally, to champion British musical culture and to create opportunities for people of all ages, particularly children and young people, to experience, engage with and participate in music.
Our Charitable Purpose
At the heart of the English Chamber Orchestra is a belief in the power and value of music. As a charity, our purpose is to promote and encourage an appreciation of music of all kinds and more specifically chamber and classical music, reaching audiences both at home and around the world.
Our work is focussed on:
- Inspiring audiences through performances in the UK and internationally.
- Creating opportunities for young people to engage with music and become part of the work of the English Chamber Orchestra.
- Advancing music education through concerts, projects and resources for schools, places of learning and community groups.
- Acting as an ambassador for British arts and culture, celebrating our rich musical heritage and sharing it with audiences in the UK and around the world.
- Promoting the value of music in society and the positive contribution that music and the arts can make to individuals and communities.
Opportunities for the Next Generation
Creating opportunities for children and young people is an important part of who we are.
Through our performances, education projects and work with schools, places of learning and community groups, we aim to encourage musical curiosity, participation and a lifelong appreciation of music.
We want young people not only to encounter exceptional live music, but to have opportunities to engage with musicians, develop their own creativity and feel that classical music is something in which they can participate.
