Valli Municipal Theatre, Reggio Emilia, Italy
Our tour with legendary pianist Elisabeth Leonskaja and conductor Marzena Diakun reaches its finale at the Valli Municipal Theatre in Reggio Emilia, where we come together for a final evening celebrating the music of Haydn, Mozart and Schubert.
Opening the programme is Haydn’s Symphony No. 44 in E minor, the Funeral Symphony. Powerful, dramatic and deeply expressive, it is a striking example of Haydn’s ability to bring remarkable emotional intensity to the symphonic form.
We are then joined by Elisabeth Leonskaja for Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 9 in E-flat major, K.271, the Jeunehomme Concerto. Written when Mozart was just 21, the concerto is alive with invention, virtuosity and an extraordinary musical conversation between piano and orchestra.
For the final work of the evening – and a fitting conclusion to our tour – we perform Schubert’s Symphony No. 5 in B-flat major. Filled with graceful melodies, warmth and youthful optimism, it brings our programme to an uplifting close.
Under the direction of Marzena Diakun, we look forward to concluding our journey together with Elisabeth Leonskaja and sharing this final performance with audiences in Reggio Emilia.
