Mozart, Berkeley & Smyth

20 October, 2027 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

venue

Cadogan Hall, London

Mozart’s remarkable invention meets British composition. In this series hear works that sometimes echo, sometimes reinvent and sometimes challenge the clarity, balance and expressive freedom of the Classical era.

This final concert in the series showcases Mozart’s brilliant “Coronation” Concerto paired with his final Piano Concerto, K. 595 – a work of remarkable intimacy, beauty and reflection.

Alongside this, trailblazing pioneer Ethel Smyth’s Symphony for small orchestra is filled with dramatic flair that nods towards its musical inheritance yet also disrupts at the same time, whilst Lennox Berkeley’s Divertimento brings the Classical tradition straight into the twentieth century: light on its feet, beautifully crafted and alive with orchestral character.

Award-winning rising star Alon Kariv is one of the most distinguished young pianists today. “Kariv is a musician of intellect, integrity and talent…technically, beyond criticism.” Classical Explorer
