Reconfiguring how orchestras work with communities is at the heart of ECO's mission. Through long-term partnerships with schools, businesses and other cultural institutions, we are seeking to embed the Orchestra within the communities we serve. This sustained approach will enable us to deliver lasting impact, inspire creativity, and ensure that music is accessible to those who may not otherwise have the opportunity to engage.
The ECO team have established a strong relationship with the Imperial War Museum. Specifically focusing on music and the Holocaust, we have nurtured a shared understanding which evolves into concerts and community work. This provides musical opportunities to reflect upon our shared history and relationship with a fast-changing world.
Working alongside academics at King's College London, we are playing a vital role in bringing musical research to life via professional concert performance. Working in tandem with the King's music department and the King's College Chapel Choir, we are also able to facilitate unique opportunities for the university's students to engage with high-quality performance.
Our newly established partnership with Princeton High School and our ongoing exchanges with the Musicus Society of Hong Kong demonstrate the orchestra's intent to be active in communities around the globe as well as at home. We are proud of the quality of the music that we bring to our collaborations, for instance with designers at London’s Fashion Week – a regular reminder that excellence extends beyond the concert hall into non-traditional performances spaces.
