Proms at the Lake: One Hundred Years of Nature

15 August, 2026 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

venue

Shibden Hall, Halifax

We are delighted to be part of *Proms at the Lake: One Hundred Years of Nature*, a major open-air celebration marking the centenary of Shibden Park and bringing together professional artists, community performers and audiences from across Calderdale.

Our relationship with Calderdale has grown significantly through our residency with Culturedale and our award-winning Close Encounters programme, which has enabled us to work closely with schools, young people and community groups throughout the borough. This concert reflects that ongoing commitment, celebrating both the area’s rich cultural heritage and the creative partnerships that continue to develop across the region.

Joining Halifax Choral Society and performers from Northern Ballet’s Gentleman Jack, we will perform a programme featuring much-loved classical works by composers including Vivaldi, Beethoven and Handel, alongside music that reflects Calderdale’s unique identity and landscape.

Set beside the lake at Shibden Park, this special event forms part of Calderdale’s centenary celebrations and highlights the power of music to connect people, places and communities. It also provides an opportunity to showcase the lasting impact of our work through Close Encounters, strengthening access to live orchestral music and creating meaningful cultural experiences across the borough.
