Haydn & Beethoven in San Sebastián with Roberto Forés Veses & Steven Isserlis
As part of our May tour, we look forward to performing at the Kursaal Auditorium in San Sebastián, joined by our Principal Guest Conductor Roberto Forés Veses and the distinguished cellist Steven Isserlis.
A musician admired worldwide for the depth of his artistry and the individuality of his sound, Steven Isserlis is celebrated not only as a soloist and chamber musician but also as a thoughtful and inspiring musical collaborator. His performances are known for their insight and expressive warmth, qualities that make him a compelling interpreter of Haydn’s Cello Concerto No. 2 in D, a work that combines elegance, virtuosity and lyrical beauty.
The evening’s programme begins with Arriaga’s Overture in D major, a spirited and confident work by the composer often referred to as the “Spanish Mozart”, and concludes with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4, a symphony full of vitality, wit and momentum.
