Mozart & Haydn at Vinehall
On Sunday 8 February, by kind invitation of the Vinehall International Concert Series we present an afternoon of music that brings together colour, wit and expressive depth, led and directed from the violin by Stephanie Gonley.
We open with the radiant energy of Holst’s St Paul’s Suite, before turning to Mozart’s Bassoon Concerto, performed by Nikolaj Henriques, a distinguished bassoonist known for his expressive playing and close collaborations with leading European ensembles. After the interval, we return with Britten’s youthful and infectious Simple Symphony, followed by Haydn’s Symphony No. 45, the ‘Farewell’, a work loved for its wit, humanity and emotional subtlety.
This programme holds particular meaning for us. This year marks the 100th anniversary of Benjamin Britten’s death, and his Simple Symphony reflects a musical voice that remains central to our history and identity.
