The Dream of Gerontius at Winchester Cathedral

27 March, 2026 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

venue

Winchester Cathedral, Winchester

We invite you to experience the full dramatic and spiritual power of Elgar’s The Dream of Gerontius, a monumental work of profound emotional depth. We are joined by three outstanding soloists, including Dame Sarah Connolly, who appears as the Angel.

We perform alongside the Waynflete Singers and Winchester Cathedral Chamber Choir, bringing together orchestra, double choir and chamber choir for this richly scaled and deeply moving work. With world-class soloists and the soaring acoustic of Winchester Cathedral, this promises to be an unforgettable musical experience.

This performance marks Dame Sarah Connolly’s debut appearance in Winchester Cathedral, and we are delighted to take part in what is sure to be a much-anticipated occasion. The concert is conducted by Andrew Lumsden, Musical Director of the Waynflete Singers.

And for anyone who has seen The Choral, this is an opportunity not to be missed.
