Haydn & Beethoven in Pamplona with Roberto Forés Veses & Steven Isserlis
As part of our May tour, we are delighted to perform at the Baluarte Auditorium in Pamplona, conducted by our Principal Guest Conductor Roberto Forés Veses with Steven Isserlis as soloist.
The programme opens with Arriaga’s Overture in D major, a bright and confident work by the composer often known as the “Spanish Mozart”. We are then joined by Steven Isserlis, one of the world’s leading cellists, renowned for the depth of his musicianship, his distinctive sound and his deeply communicative performances. Internationally celebrated as a soloist, chamber musician and recording artist, and admired for his curiosity, scholarship and generosity as a collaborator, he performs Haydn’s Cello Concerto No. 2 in D, a work that combines elegance, virtuosity and expressive warmth.
The concert concludes with Beethoven’s Symphony No. 4, a work full of energy, wit and momentum.
