This concert reflects that ongoing commitment\, celebrating both the area’s rich cultural heritage and the creative partnerships that continue to develop across the region.\n\nJoining Halifax Choral Society and performers from Northern Ballet’s Gentleman Jack\, we will perform a programme featuring much-loved classical works by composers including Vivaldi\, Beethoven and Handel\, alongside music that reflects Calderdale’s unique identity and landscape.\n\nSet beside the lake at Shibden Park\, this special event forms part of Calderdale’s centenary celebrations and highlights the power of music to connect people\, places and communities. It also provides an opportunity to showcase the lasting impact of our work through Close Encounters\, strengthening access to live orchestral music and creating meaningful cultural experiences across the borough.\n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n \n Programme \n \n \n \n HandelWater Music Suite No. 2 (I & II) MendelssohnA Midsummer Night’s Dream Overture DeliusOn Hearing the First Cuckoo in Spring O’Hooley & TidowGentleman Jack (Ballet) Vaughan WilliamsFantasia on Greensleeves VivaldiSummer from The Four Seasons Rimsky-KorsakovFlight of the Bumblebee BeethovenSymphony No. 6 in F major\, Op. 68 (“Pastoral”) – 4th Movement PortmanTipping Points\, Part 5: Earth PucciniCrisantemi DelibesFlower Duet from Lakmé PiazzollaSummer from The Four Seasons of Buenos Aires CoplandSimple Gifts from Appalachian Spring Coleridge-TaylorBreath of Life HandelHallelujah Chorus from Messiah \n \n \n \n \n \n Performers \n \n \n \n Toby Purser Conductor\nElla Taylor Soprano\nRebecca Afonwy Jones Mezzo Soprano\nHalifax Choral Society Chorus\n\nNorthern Ballet\n\nEnglish Chamber Orchestra
