Dramatic and deeply expressive\, the work reveals Haydn at his most compelling\, contrasting moments of intensity with music of remarkable beauty and refinement.\n\nElisabeth Leonskaja then joins us for Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 9 in E-flat major\, K.271\, the Jeunehomme Concerto. Written when Mozart was just 21\, this remarkable work marked an important step forward in his writing for piano and orchestra\, combining virtuosity and elegance with an unusually rich dialogue between soloist and ensemble.\n\nThe programme concludes with Schubert’s Symphony No. 5 in B-flat major.
