Powerful\, dramatic and deeply expressive\, it is a striking example of Haydn’s ability to bring remarkable emotional intensity to the symphonic form.\n\nWe are then joined by Elisabeth Leonskaja for Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 9 in E-flat major\, K.271\, the Jeunehomme Concerto. Written when Mozart was just 21\, the concerto is alive with invention\, virtuosity and an extraordinary musical conversation between piano and orchestra.\n\nFor the final work of the evening – and a fitting conclusion to our tour – we perform Schubert’s Symphony No. 5 in B-flat major.
